Suspension of Face to Face Scouting

Yesterday afternoon, the Prime Minister said that everyone in the UK should avoid non-essential travel and contact with others.Given this guidance, all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events have been suspended with immediate effect. This suspension applies to young people and adults, and will be until further notice.

At Leverstock Green Scout Group this means that all meetings of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will stop from today until the Easter holidays. The Young Leader training event which was planned for 18 March at Hobbs Hill Wood School is cancelled.Sadly our Easter Fun event, which was planned for 29 March at Phasels Wood is also cancelled. We will look into re-arranging this another time. I know some people have already paid for this event, we will ensure this payment is returned to you.I think we can agree that in these challenging times, our Scout values matter most.

The Scout Association is talking to Government and other community organisations to see how Scouts can support our country during this crisis. We must make sure that we do this in the safest possible way and don’t put anyone at further risk. We will update you more on this over the coming weeks. The Scout Association is planning to share activities for young people to do at home with their parents if families are faced with self-isolation. We will be communicating more about this soon.I am sure you will have questions over the coming days and weeks – as further information becomes available, we will share further updates.

Thank you for supporting our Scout Group.

Group Scout Leader
